A 1966 F-100 Pickup Truck in a service bay at Heavy Metal Motors in Southeast Portland, Oregon

We ended the year with a special treat- This beautiful 1966 F-100 came to the shop with a list from the owner that had other shops intimidated and scared. We loved every minuite of it!

The 1966 Ford F-100 represents the moment the American pickup evolved from a farm tool into a lifestyle icon. Sitting at the pinnacle of the "Slick Side" era, its silhouette is unapologetically broad-shouldered, blending mid-century optimism with pure mechanical grit.

Why This Legend Matters:

  • The "Twin I-Beam" Revolution: In 1966, Ford perfected an independent front suspension that allowed this beast to "drive like a car, work like a truck." It ended the era of bone-jarring rides forever.

  • Unstoppable Power: Whether powered by the bulletproof 300-cubic-inch Inline-6 or the rumbling 352 FE V8, these trucks were built to outlast their owners.

  • The "Million Dollar Cab": With the introduction of the Ranger trim, Ford proved that a workhorse could still offer the comfort of bucket seats and two-tone styling.

THIS isn't just a vintage pickup—it’s a "Goldilocks" classic. It has the soul of the 1960s but handles with a modern confidence that makes it a favorite OF OURS. WE took this legendary foundation and gave it the respect it deserves. We :
